Arrangement of Gravesites
Our long-accumulated experience in the field of grave maintenance allows us to properly organize the gravesite of your relatives and to carry out all the necessary work related to it in a qualitative and professional manner. We will provide a full range of grave maintenance services. Where does the work begin?
Step 1. Design and Coordination of the Gravesite
This is an essential stage on which the success of further work will depend. Only after fully comprehending the customer’s needs can we provide an individual grave project for them. This document shows the dimensions of granite products, the colours of granite that is used and what the proportions of the parts used in the monument will look like when the entire grave is taken into account. Only when this work is done thoroughly can you expect a result that is of high quality and pleasing to look at.
Step 2. Casting of The Foundation
This is another important step in the maintenance of the gravesite which deserves special attention, as it is where the monument will be installed and further work will be carried out. If this kind of work is not done properly, then not only the design but also the quality will suffer. When laying the grave foundation, it is compulsory to use high-quality concrete. Only the right amount of cement in concrete can ensure its strength and durability. The time and air temperature at which the concreting work is carried out are also important factors to consider. A step of paramount importance is the reinforcement of the foundation. This means that the amount and thickness of metal structures and armature used should be sufficient when concreting the grave fence. Improper foundation depth can warrant unwanted issues after a few cold winter seasons. In the most demanding cases, if the worker sees a necessity to do so, piles may be drilled, on top of which the foundation will be casted. Please note, that the foundation will be casted depending on the method of gravesite arrangement (granite tiles, decorative chippings, concrete or clinker pads or granite slabs).
Step 3. Installation of The Monument
In this step, the main task is to properly secure the reinforcement between the monument and its base. To be more precise, it is important to choose the proper thickness of the armature in relation to the height and thickness of the monument, and to drill holes of appropriate depth: one on the lower part of the monument and one on the object itself. Unfortunately, there are some workers who work half-heartedly and end up skipping this vital step of monument installation entirely. This is unacceptable behaviour whose consequences can be rather grim. Not only can the monument fall down, but in doing so it can hurt the cemetery visitors. Without a doubt, a question that holds a lot of weight is what kind of glue will be used to install the monument. This question is best answered by time and the experience of the experts in this field. The plentiful experience of our employees has made it possible to answer this question easily. It is worth noting that the monument can be installed in several ways:
– on the fence of the foundation; – concreting a separate foundation for the monument on an already existing foundation (it is possible, but there are important rules related to the technology to be followed); – on already installed gravestone components (on granite slabs and granite pedestals). Our experienced employees will definitely know which method of installation fits you best.
Step 4. The Finish of The Foundation
It is of paramount importance to do it properly, because without it, the grave will not look eye-pleasing but rather dull. The most popular methods of grave decor are covering the grave with decorative chippings (colours and sizes of your choice), gluing granite strips (making mosaics) and gluing granite slabs or tiles. In recent years, covering the foundation with decorative primer has become more and more popular. Based on the individual grave design, our craftsmen create beautiful designs that meet the expectations of our customers.
Step 5. Installation of a Pathway in The Gravesite
A pathway is important for its multiple functions, such as convenience, aesthetics (looks beautiful) and practicality (stops weeds and other plants from growing and protects the monument from getting soiled). Various materials are used for the construction of paths, but the most popular in Lithuania is a finely crafted granite slab. Concrete or clinker pads are typically used around the grave. Experienced craftsmen know that for long-lasting results, pads are laid out in accordance with important laying rules (from how to prepare the foundation to what materials to use for filling spaces between the pads). The finishing stage usually includes the finer elements of decoration – granite slab supports for flowers, granite tiles on the grave, flowerbeds and many more. It is important that the craftsmen do everything with the help of high-quality materials, using the best working methods and taking into account the possible environmental factors and other issues that may surface.
These are just some of the essential steps you need to take to make your loved one’s grave look eye-pleasing and elegant.
